Well... well, what a Break we got. A Break from fighting, a Break from killing and a Break from pick pocketing. We're are talking about the annual Break fete which is one of the main fetes that usually get the Carnival season rolling. TJJ arrived at the scene around 10:45pm and was greeted by a big crew liming outside the entrance to the Pier 1 compound.

Inside the fete had small groups of people enjoying themselves to some sweet Soca music. Scattered in different directions they enjoyed free drinks from a bar that never ran low. The crowd picked up around 1am, and then it was almost impossible to get around. Most of the the fetegoers looked as though they knew each other... a wonderful warmth of unity was felt throughout the night. Some sexy models displayed costumes from new mas band Pulse 8, and then the show was on the road.

Soon after the big band Caribbean Traffik took the stage, screaming fans started jumping and waving as Shurwayne Winchester sang some of his hit songs including 2k7 hits "Alequa" and "Open The Gate". He even sang 2004 Road March "The Band Coming", which was a crowd favorite. Traffik's new comer Olatunji Yearwood got the crowd's attention by singing Peter Ram's "Woman By My Side" along side Shurwayne. Front lady Candy Hoyte, looking sexy as always, was right on point during the band's performance.... "Represent" Candy!

At the end of Traffik's performance TJJ met up with The Big Artist Crew (Michelle Sylvester, Terry Seales, Ms Alysha & Mista Vybe), the big man in the business Iwer George and 2k7 shining star Fireball backstage. They all came to lend their support to their colleagues. Now we cannot forget the Synergy Crew who were present to tape the show and enjoy themselves as well.

The crowd went back to enjoy some Soca music as they all patiently waited on the next big band Destra Garcia & Atlantik. Destra finally took the stage about 30 mins later and took us on a joyride singing today's songs like "Soca or Die" and "I Dare You", all the way back to past hits like "Tremble It".

If you missed this event you missed out. Just to see Destra do the 'Dutty Wine' on the guitarist then all of a sudden say, "Oh gosh boy, look meh panty showing!" (lol) was one for the books!! Besides the positive vibes, we particularly liked this fete for the unity that was shown, the bar that never ran out of drinks and for the heavy police/security present.

Remember peoples for Carnival 2k7, it's Soca, Soca and more Soca!!! Make sure you're safe on the roads and like our friends at Arrive Alive always preaching, please do not drink and drive!!
