So BG Trinidad and Tobago did it AGAIN, only a lot better this time! "Start de Carnival", which was held at Chagaramas Golf course, was only their 2nd year hosting their All Inclusive Carnival fete . It was well organized from the start, with great shuttle services provided. Various maxi taxis and busses to take you to the fete from Pier 2 car park where we had to park our cars. SHOCKINGLY there was hardly any traffic at 7:00 PM which made us think that maybe the party was going to be scarce. We were wrong, because the fete started at 4:00 pm in the afternoon giving people a lot of time to beat traffic seeing that there was "Break" taking place at Pier 1 on the same night.

While walking in, you received a BG cup (which lights up at the bottom) and a BG Rag. We noticed a huge hand made Carnival Mask above the entrance giving the impression of walking into a masquerader's mouth. Nice huh? There was also one above the stage area. On both sides of the stage there were tents covering the bar and there was a whole section dedicated to the food tents and a sitting area north of the stage. Lawd..... the food was good!! There were many selections to choose from, even deserts! The food and drinks occupied the crowd for hours, right until the first performance from Machel Montano High HD around 10:45 PM which was da' BOMB! That's right folks Machel's full band now known as HD (High Definition)... The Xtatik era has come to an end!

Of course Machel gave nothing but 'high-level energy' and got the same from the audience. There was a point where it began to rain yet Machel kept us dancing and singing without complaints. One of the hype moments that night was when Patrice Roberts joined him on stage and they sang their latest collaboration for Carnival 2k7 "Light It Up". They really had the crowd going with that song and they both sounded and looked great (as usual).

Maximus Dan gave a great performance too. The crowd enjoyed his positive lyrics but somehow they weren't dancing and giving him the same amount of energy he gave out. Maybe because they were ah little 'tyad' after Machel & Partice's act??!! When Destra & Atlantik came out on stage they were warmly welcomed. Then out of nowhere came some sexy models wearing last year's TRIBE & Genesis mas band costumes dancing behind her, along with two moko jumbies. She gave partygoers a good show!

For BG T&T, having tents laden with lots of eats and drinks, a MC like Jason Williams, High Fidelity as their DJ and having top notch performances from Machel Montano HD, Maximus Dan AND the beautiful Destra Garcia with her band Atlantik, there was NOTHING that could go wrong with pleasing the crowd. There were also some really nice design effects like graffiti pumped into the crowd ever so often during hype moments and fire burning off the sides of the stage while the Soca artists performed. We enjoyed!!! We enjoyed!!!

This was indeed a great second attempt. The fete ended after 12:00 PM. People left saying "Yes, next year again fuh sure!!!", but had to wait a few minutes to grab a shuttle out to Pier 2, because everyone wanted to leave at the same time (no fault on BG).

If BG's "Start De Carnival" was your first Carnival fete for 2007 then we're sure you're anxious for more. We definitely are!! BG, thanks again for inviting us. Make no joke, BG Trinidad and Tobago Energy Inclusive Carnival Fete already on our Trini Jungle Juice Calendar for 2008!!
