Date: Thursday 15th February 2007 Location: Ortinola Estate (Maracas). St. Joseph, Trinidad Promotions: 21 Promotions Click on thumbnails to see the big picture/entire gallery It's now Carnival Thursday. Some folks still trying to get over last nights festivities, but nobody missin' this one for nuttin'. The last of the Carnival jumbies arriving on the island today and tomorrow. If yuh comin in the island after Friday, it better be an emergency situation, like yuh boss handcuff yuh tuh your desk or sumting so. Another fantastic day weather wise in sweet TnT. Team TJJ making our way up to Maracas St. Joseph early this year for the big Beach House Carnival extravaganza. Jah know the traffic situation in TnT is out of control and with thousands of folks headin to the estate we not takin no chances of missin out on some daylight footage and festivities like some new kids on the block. Fetealotathon® event #14 and the finish line is nowhere in sight. Let's head in and see what's on and popin'. First stop is always the bar, doh act like yuh doh know ;-) Premium bar, fast service, tings lookin' good so far. Oh yeah, the cocktails served upon entering the fete really helped to make the initial walk into the party seem a lot shorter than it really was :-) Every year this fete is a Carnival staple for TJJ, yet every year this venue takes our breath away. All we keep thinking is "Sweet TnT", run d big Natasha Wilson tune! Words cannot describe this venue so make sure yuh take ah good look at the pictures if yuh never been. Ah bet you yuh book yuh ticket for next Carnival one time :-). This is one party on the Fetealotathon® that we look forward to every year!! The ambiance, the smallies (and fellas for TJJ girls), the drinks, the food and the music all come together in perfect harmony to produce one of the "must do" events for Trinidad Carnival. This year there was one common bit of feedback that we heard from crew after crew: "Why bring live bands into this fete??" That change the whole dynamic of the fete. Now don't get us wrong, we know everybody need to eat ah food but this fete, people lookin' forward to just vibezin with DJ music for this one. We got nothing but love for the bands but Destra even said it in her performance which was surprising, but the honesty and openness with the audience along with her apology for what had happened the night before forged a real connection with the audience. For a while we were not sure if other people had the same idea of what made Beach House so special, but from the feedback we got at the event and throughout Carnival, there is no doubt that one of the things that makes Beach House @ Carnival so special is the fact that it has been traditionally a DJ fete. So the question now becomes, once yuh go bands, can you go back to just DJ's? That one sound like a real wait and see situation yes. People also noticed that the food stations needed to be restocked faster and positioned a little better to allow smooth lining up and a constant flow of sustenance. Fete gettin' bigger and bigger every year, service and planning gotta keep up too right? Nice. At the end of the day, bands or no bands, the fete was sweet too bad. And we got our fair share of DJ music on the home stretch. As a matter of fact we were able to milk the lime long enough with DJ music to miss a lot of the traffic headin' out of the valley. Beach House remains on the top Fetealotathon® events for us. Thanks to the Beach House posse for accommodating Team TJJ and allowing us to share our experiences, and sights & sounds of Beach House with the world. See you all next year!
