Drink someting... drink someting... they had a nice ketchey jingle on their party invite ah spin off from Big Drew's 2007 Parang contribution "Drink Something". De chune still in we head, yes! Babash Events, who rose from the phoenix earlier this year (www.trinijunglejuice.com/babash_phoenix_rising/) for the first time, finished off the year with their Christmas someting. It was the first Trini ting for the season... well not surprising since we still in November, but the timing was just about right. Let the festive season begin! So it's a Thursday evening again, the new Friday and all, so we expected people to be coming from work and ting. TJJ got there early so was one of the first there. Only a few people about, Carib at the bar and food now being set up by D Corner Shop. We weren't sure how this one was going to go at this point, as still being new, Babash aren't accustomed in bringing the biggest crowds as yet. By the time we turn we back though, it looked as if everyone was waiting outside for the right moment to come in because in no time there was a rush of people.... and after coming in they all rushed with their chits to get food! There was pastel, chicken or beef, turkey, ham came later, salad and what they called stuffing pie (mixed with potato... very nice indeed!). The food was good, but the wait was a little too long. Even though it was worth the wait, one thing they need to work on is a little more speed, because the line wasn't moving fast enough. A steady stream of people were arriving, between like 8 and 10pm, and the atmosphere being created was a nice vibe. The music by Che, Vendetta and the All Mighty Sound was just right to put us in the Christmas spirit, starting with some parang and oldies and bringing up the party when people done eat with some more hyped selections. Although there was a lot of liming, everyone was merry, champers were flowing in some quarters and as it got later a little dancing started. Unfortunately some of the TJJ crew had to duck out before the end, but the jammin' continued for quite some time with a variety of music from dancehall to rappy rap, and although it was a work/school night, there were the die-hards down to the end at about 1-ish. It was a good night - there was a good turnout and a nice crowd. The High St. Kensington (London) venue of ArchAngel was decent, not so big, but probably the perfect size for the night. Thank you and Merry Christmas to all at Babash Events. Speaking of Babash.... we hear people asking why we doh actually have some babash at your event? Could be an idea - yuh tink? ==================================== |
