While the fortunate were in Trinidad for Carnival 2007, some of us were left in colder cloudy atmospheres around the world. Some tried to fight the depression in London by attending Pick a Pan Entertainment party called, “The Carnival Ah Fare”. Many others decided to stay at home and distract themselves by doing everything else besides thinking of Soca, mas and gold dust.

We got down to the Barbican, “The Masque Bar” around midnight. They were doing a discounted entrance if you showed that you had travelled to the party by using your tube or bus pass. This came in handy for many of the patrons that had come by de ye ole iron horse. Considering that they would have to take a cab home, as the tube stops running at 1:00AM, the couple pounds savings would be handy......... for more drinks!!!!

There was a small crowd on hand but they were enthusiastic and vivacious. “Che in the Mixx”, DTEE and Trevor Davis supplied some sweet Soca. Mr. Mention was hyppin' up the crowd.

The Soca bacchanal ended at 2:00AM with people lining up for a after party snack. On sale was palourie with mango sauce, as well as bake and buljol. Just what the doctor would order after such an event.

For those who couldn’t make the trip to Trinidad this party proved to be a remind that you could get Soca any where on the globe but there is only one unique exotic place that has the environment and party flavour that we all love. Many walked away from the Masque having enjoyed the night but they all wanted a lot more. They were all lamenting that it was not the same as ah Carnival Saturday fete in Trinidad.
