With the Miami Carnival quickly approaching it's climax, there is one entertainer that partygoers were looking forward to seeing, and we can easily say that he had de night on lock. Carnival Saturday night literally belonged to no other than.... Mr. Machel Montano. Machel, the ultimate high energy performer, headlined a well appreciated cast for the 2007 Alternative Concept (AC) Miami. As the crowds continued to flock outside the venue, the lines got longer and longer, but the patient patrons did not have to wait long to get inside. Kudos to the promoters for doing a great job getting the Machel fans on the inside relatively quickly. Much respect to Wally and your crew. Once inside, we could tell that it was going to be a lil' challenge to get ah smile outta de people who were waiting patiently for the man himself, and possibly saving their energy for his performance. However, it wasn't long before the TJJ cameras saw those Colgate smiles that we're accustomed to seeing. The show kicked off with Mr. Dale from Barbados, who was able to get a bit of waistline movement from the patrons with his 2007 Crop Over hit song "Soka Junkie". With a more than fair performance, Mr. Dale left the stage well appreciated. Keeping the session heated, Rikki T, got the crowd pumped up with his 2k7 St. Lucia Road March tune "Pressure Boom". Even Giselle the Wassi One, surprised the crowd with a Soca tune of her own, much to the delight of the crowd. As she left the stage, Giselle took pleasure in introducing the beautiful El A Kru, who literally woke the 'jump and wine up spirit' in the Revolution crowd. Forget Red Bull.... El A Kru's "Expose" was the energy drink the people needed!! She definitely set the stage for what was to follow. Orlando based boy band Crossovah represented the islands well and most certainly captured the attention of the young ladies. Nookie Man Jamsey P, as always, performed well... keeping the momentum rolling, leaving the crowd on their toes, full of excitement and anticipation. While the MC began the HD introduction, the multicolored flags made their way out of their back pockets and handbags of the partygoers who were eager to show where they were from. Of course, yuh know it had rel Trinbago flags waving as the one and only Machel Montano made his way on stage. Shelly, Jojo & de big Long Island posse and Lianne, Dana & dey crew from ATL was not playing .... dem come to see Machel...... and it was about dat time. It was energy flowing left to right, wit de people - especially the ladies - all on their toes for Machel's performance. As always, he was outstanding ..... like allyuh didn't know, and he even laid down ah couple tunes from Beenie Man, Buju Banton and Berres Hammond .... and he did it all with style! Zan and Patrice Roberts joined Machel out front and immediately got the crowd's attention. The crowd was excited to see Machel perform his 2007 launcher "Wining Season", while Patrice was equally impressive with her big tune, "Assume The Position (Wukkin Up)". With beads of sweat that could be seen running from Montano's face, it was obvious that he truly gives 110% in every performance. He is a true entertainer, with lots of passion for music. As they say, "All's well, that ends well" ......... but we're sure the crowd, like the TJJ crew, was kinda disappointed that de boss had to leave at 4am. Allyuh know Trini's always want to go de distance. And besides, yuh know de Stray Dawg Krew wasn't moving til' security ask dem to leave... especially when bumpers rollin' in front ah dem!
