Caribbean Wet Fete Barbados 2006, what can I say? Well this year has been my 3rd year being involved in this positive vibe event which is held on the shores of Bim. Held on Sunday 16th July, and hailed as "WET FETE SUNDAY" it definitely proved to be the event to kick off the Crop Over 2006 season.

The venue, 2nd year in a row, was the Bajan Heliport Carpark and it was simply too small to handle the 8000+ patrons which attended. By 3pm the roads surrounding the venue were filled with girls in their sexy bikinis and shorts whilst the guys walked with their water guns and other "water paraphernalia". The theme this year was "Pirate Island" and one can only imagine the outfits several of the patrons outfitted themselves with. Perhaps 75% of the crowd had eye-patches and pirate hats which didn't last long when the water came flowing down.

It was the 1st year that I ventured into the "General" admission section to capture some video footage of Bajans "wukking it up" and trust me they were doing things that only the mind can imagine. There was a general sense of peace and fun as there were no reported fights etc. Usually you would thing that the crowd would be bad but I actually felt quite safe and everyone was enjoying themselves.

The highlight of the performances was Bunji Garlin followed by the dynamic due of Esco and Left-Eye (Dr. Evil). From their appearance on stage the crow went "in ah frenzy" and they delivered a mega performance. As the night drew to a close the water still flowed and the crowed partied to an event that they will remember in years to come...
