Years Night" or as it is also known, "New Years Eve"... the kinda
night where if you didn't see someone wearing a suit for the entire year, you
bound to catch them in one on this night. So de TJJ crew had to deck off for this
occasion as well, with fellas in suit and tie and de ladies in their elegant classy
evening attire. Yea no Jungle Juice T's tonight :-) We
made our way into the party around minutes to ten and were warmly greeted by the
promoters. The first area we came across was the dining area, where folks we well
seated and seemed to be enjoying their meals. We kept the cameras in the off position
as we strolled through, not wanting to seem rude and interrupt folks during their
meal. After ordering ah quick drink, we made our way over to the dance floor area.
Here we noticed another bar, a creatively erected stage over the swimming pool
and last but not least, the one thing that no one could possibly miss...... THE
VIEW!! Yuh talk about view, up Fort George hill have view!! By
about 11 PM most people were finished having dinner and were now on the dance
floor. Some live entertainment had begun on stage and they were all soaking in
the activity. Closer to midnight Orange Sky was introduced to the stage. The band
kicked things off by welcoming in the new year at the stroke of midnight as fireworks
lit up the night's sky. Doing a performance a bit different from the norm, their
repertoire consisted of songs form the late great Kitchener, The Mighty Sparrow
and many other veterans in the calypso fraternity. They even sang some classics
of the late Robert Nester Marley. The audience seemed to love it and at times
even sang along as their favorites were being played. Soca Chutney artist Chris
Garcia also came on stage and did a small performance, hitting some high notes
in his rendition of some oldies but goldies. At
about 2 AM the DJ returned to setting the pace. Folks continued to dance the night
away while sippin on Champaign and the many other types of alcohol available at
the bar. One thing is for sure, drinks was flowing like water! At a little after
4 AM we decided to make our way out, but not before running into de Doubles man
who fixed us up quite nicely. As usual "Everything, slight pepper... to go!
Yes people, it was rather enjoyable way to bring in the new year and TJJ definitely
will look forward to the next one, seeing that things went so well the first time
around. Special thanks to Anita and her husband for welcoming Trini Jungle Juice
with open arms. Happy
New Year folks!! We are looking forward to another God Blessed Year!! |
