Much activity and night life was taking place in T&T as the country celebrated on the eve of Emancipation Day. One of these activities was the Reggae All Stars Concert which showcased Trinbago's reggae artists along with some of Jamaica's reggae stars. The concert made head way at about 11:40 PM with Mr. King commencing the stage activities. The man that brought us the hit "Oh Laventille" definitely got things started off right. Levy Myaz who was up next, continued to showcase the local talent, showing people that he got what it takes to make it in the long run. Next on stage was Jah Bami. For a fairly new comer to the local reggae scene, he definitely won the crowd over, especially with his pro ganja lyrics. Khari Kill who took up from where Jah Bami left off was the next performer. He with his side kick ... a Ras with an umbrella put on quite an energetic performance. King David, another fairly new comer was up next. His performance showed his versatility as he was able to hyped the crowd from one of his selections, while during another, capture the hearts of the female fans present. The "Ganja Farmer" took the stage next, yes Mr. Marlon Asher who was also joined by Royal Dainty and Rawted Ruben put down some reggae styles that had folks chanting. Isasha and Million Voice were up next to perform. Doing both their old and new hits, these two guys definitely create a vibe between themselves which always stirs and pleases the audience time and after time. Coming all the way from Moruga, Prophet Benjamin was the last of the local line up carded to perform. Pressed for time, his repertoire only consisted of three songs. Nevertheless, it was humorous and quite entertaining. The local reggae stars all proved themselves not only to be gifted and very talented buy also favorites amongst reggae lovers both far and wide. Definitely in T&T for sure! :-) Alright, at minutes to 2 AM Half Pint came on stage. Although a first time performer to T&T, this veteran sang classics such as "Greetings," "Crazy Girl" and "Too Late" which were definitely known and loved by all. Well folks it's getting late and even though patrons and fans alike all enjoyed what the concert had to offer thus far, lets face it ... the people came out to see the original Gagamel, Buju Banton! At about 2:30 AM their moment of waiting was over. Taking to the stage dresses in all white, fans got to see the more conscious side of Buju as most of his repertoire was taken from his 'Til Shiloh' and 'Inna Heights' albums. Regardless of these more slow pace and conscious tunes, Buju really brought out a strong vibe and sense of appeal which definitely helped to put an extra burst of energy back into the audience. His performance which lasted for about an hour was truly worthwhile. Warrior King who performed next was the grand finale of the night. He came on performing "Virtuous Woman," his first release and the song which really put his name out there. His performance also seemed to maintain the vibe that Buju had created and lasted for about half and hour. We not too sure what happened to the rest of the carded Jamaican artists like Kymani Marley and Junior X, but after Warrior King closed off his act, it seemed like he closed off the show as well. This left patrons in a bit of confusion and disappointment. It's not exactly the way you would hope to see a show end. Oh well. Folks we guess it was time to head on out. Yep,TJJ out!
