It's a mellow Sunday evening in Trinidad and after finding ah quick park, we started making our way towards Zen for Pulse 8 2k7 Band Launch. Well before we reach de front door, the mellow vibes dun turn to ah instant party scene. Iz rhythm section beating sweet iron in de road, entertaining patrons as they make their way into the nightclub. Trini Jungle Juice stepped foot inside at about quarter past eight.
Now we ready to wuk because the main presentation was suppose to commence at 8 PM, but then we check ourselves... wait nah, iz Trini time they mean!! So like the saying goes "When in Rome..." We sure allya cud finish that one off! :-) Time to get ah drink and see who in de mix and who ent. The crowd definitely began to grow and as the hour grew closer to nine, as the announcer kept saying "The presentation will begin any minute now folks." Guess that is our queue to head stage side.
With some fancy pyrotechnics and the use of smoke machines, the 2007 Mas presentation "Cocktails... You Shake, We Stir" began. In an array of color coordinated lights, the sexy models came out displaying the various the costumes that made up all 14 sections of the newly formed Pulse 8 band. The crowd's response seemed very encouraging, while some folks even seemed to be discussing amongst themselves, their particular likes and dislikes.
The 14 sections were Anti Freeze, Mai Tai, Sapphire Ice, Love Potion #9, Copacabana, Margarita Madness, Summer Passion, Depth Charge, Melon Fever, Blue Lagoon, Mojito, Rum Sweet Rum, Sex On D Beach and Wicked Waitress. Hey, there were also exciting giveaways too! Hidden in balloons which were dropped from the ceiling, were pieces of paper revealing the particular prizes that patrons won. De action didn't stop here. Imij & Co. came on at about 10 PM and continued to increase the hype of the party. Their repertoire consisted of a wide cross section of hits and the crowd truly loved their over one hour long performance. Yeah man, Ghetto Flex and Michelle X much respect from the TJJ fam.
Well our night of cocktails and costumes ended at about 11:30 PM as we made our way out. Plenty people were still partying the night away, but with the thought of work at 6 AM the next day, it was definitely that time. Yes peoples, we do actually sleep when we can!
