Date: Friday 10th February 2006 Location: Pier 1 (Chaguaramas), Trinidad Promoters: Together As One Click on thumbnails to see the big picture/entire gallery Ladies 1st, the Carnival fete where hundreds of complementary tickets are given out to females. Now allyuh know, once its freeness involved Trinis doh stick ... is real women going and be in the jam! Once women on de inside, there is obviously going to be a huge male following. This is probably why Ladies 1st is know to be one of the more popular fetes for the season. Now funny enough, a little static was encountered at the door. The guest list didn't seem to be properly organized. Luckily though, good friend of the Jungle, DJ High Fidelity, soon sorted things out. TJJ stepped into the dance about minutes to 12. Wow, Pier 1 done pack and stage activity going on already yes folks! Local comedian Rachel Price was bussin' some of her jokes and had patrons rolling with laughter. Shout out to Pricey! There was also some male modeling taking place on stage and the ladies were taking in every moment of it. Now we have a better understanding why they call this fete Ladies First!! :-) Continuing to scope out the scene, the atmosphere seemed intriguing, the crowd appealing and jolly and the level of energy and vibe most present. Looks like a night of fun and excitement! Well at almost 1 am, Destra with band Atlantik came on to release some of that excitement. With a performance known to be electrifying, complimented with some on stage pyrotechnics ... exciting it was! Chutney star Adesh Samaroo also came on stage with Atlantik and delivered a brief but enjoyable performance. The stage then took to life again at 3 am when Machel and Xtatik began performing. Doing their usual crowd pleasing hits, folks just went wild. Get! ... Get! ... Get! ... Get! ... Get! ... Get Delirious!! Some of the other artists accompanying Machel was the woman who will "Always Be" ... Patrice Roberts, Bajan Soca Queen who was definitely Rollin' It ... Alison Hinds and new member of Xtatik, the man whos got something for the cold ... Benjai. Xtatik's near one hour performance pretty much closed off the show. The DJs took over from where Xtatik left off and began gradually slowing the pace as folks unwound and began departing. At 4:30 AM the fete was definitely over. It was an event enjoyed by most and hopefully come next year, TJJ's entry will be all set for this one. ;-)
