Brian Danclair is known by TJJ for his catering prowess, having provided the food for various parties we covered in the past, and also at many events at the Trinidad High Commission. Now Brian is trying his han' at fetes and kicks things off with this Christmas Party.

The invite said "Cutters All Night", and Brian didn't disappoint. On the menu was Alloo pie with tamarind dip (good for turbulent stomachs) just like down Brixton at Moca; saltfish accra (yuh mouth must be watering from the thought of saltfish!); mini rotis (chicken & veggie); roast pork; and mini pastelles. Everything tasted superb as usual, but the alloo& accra stood out for us.... oh, and the pork was on! How could we forget the pork??!! Man say Rasta might want to cut off their dreads just to taste it.

Quantity was spot on - it hurts us to write this now but we actually had to turn away food as we were up to the brim. Drinks were right up there too, with complimentary welcome drinks on arrival and Angostura rum was flowing at the well stocked bar with 'no chook yuh eye out' prices. The turn out of the crowd was good too man and at a very swanky venue. Although it wasn't crowded, nuff people pass through for this early event. It began at 4pm – too early for some, but by 9 o'clock so, people were ready to party.

No live Parang again, but a rhythm section pulled through with Tobago Crusoe to Extempo down the place.... he ripped up like he was on Store Bay! Crusoe eh really mess up man in the crowd but people in general get a lil' lash here and dere. We went in d background when he came on as you know how dey like to buss shots and the man with d mic is the most powerful in the dance. Early on people preferred to just lime and be social, but it was a nice vibe, and later everyone moved on to the dance floor. It was scheduled to finish by 11:30pm, but of course people now in the mood and didn't want it to end. Luckily Busspepper's Cuchi La La party wasn't to far away and many folks headed over there.

All in all, it was a good first party. When Brian first talked to us about having the party he said he wanted to give partygoers an alternative and provide them with more for their money. Folks were indeed happy with what they got for the price, and would be looking out for more events by Brian Danclair and Friends.
