A fete to remember...

This event, hosted by one of UK's leading soca promoters, Busspepper Promotions was a good opportunity for one of our newest reps in the UK to get a taste for partying the TJJ way. The venue this time was Digress, a lounge bar and club in the heart of the city, not too far from Moorgate, which according to the Busspepper regulars was the nicest ever seen for a Trini/Soca party. The club is set over 4 rooms and combines the comfort of the lounge scene with private dining, the sophistication of a cocktail bar and the lively feel of the club.

With the increasing success of the last few parties, this bigger venue was necessary, but the earlier start of 5pm look like it discouraged some from coming as there was lots of space in some areas. Trini again! Cyah be early for anyting! On the other hand, with an early finish people coulda still take the tube home, but nobody wanted the party to done at midnight. The dancefloor though was packed as Kern from High Fidelity/Less Than Zero and The Gladiators had the crowd jumping, waving and getting on scandalous with sweet sounds as they reminisced about the Carnival just gone.

The one and the only Hassan was there providing us with true Caribbean food - curry chicken, dhal puri, pelau, saltfish and bake; and to finish it off a good cup a corn soup with a splash ah soy sauce and pepper and back on the dance floor to the sweet sounds of true Caribbean music. With food and music what else do we need?

We spotted a few local Caribbean celebrities - BBC 1Xtra DJ Alex Jordan enjoying herself in the dance, as well as the lovely Crystal Laygier, Miss Trini UK.

Well the night was over early, but we can't say the same for our Carnival Tabanca. "We have ah Tabanca ahhh ... a Carnival Tabanca ..." If you can help TJJ with our Carnival Tabanca, let us know - a fete, a bbq, a fete match, pitching marbles (we still have we big slug hide away) or any excuse for a nice lime! We dey!! Look out for more TJJ coverage in the UK. We gone.
