After a long tedious
work week, the weekend was finally here and that only meant one thing...
Trini Jungle Juice on de move. First stop on the agenda was Callaloo's
"Carnival Baby" - Marlon Singh's Annual Birthday Bash
held at Viva City, Markham. Now we have to admit, despite the warm temperature
(a balmy 8 degrees), this was not the perfect night to be out and about
seeing that the weather had been windy & rainy most of the day but
with hot foot like ours, that didn't stop us!
TJJ rolled up to Viva City just minutes prior to midnight and the crowd
turn out was not as we had expected but then again we West Indians never
reach ah fete early. As always the first stop is to the bar and we have
to commend the smooth purchase of drink tickets and the quick service
at the bar. The folks that were already on the inside were clearly enjoying
themselves as Dr. Jay was on the one's and two's doing what he
does best... bussin' de big soca chunes!! We telling ya, big chunes 2K6
tunes like Mista Vybe's "Ting
4 D'Road", KMC's "3
Miles" and of course Machel's "Scandal"
will mash up any dance. The temperature was starting to rise in de place
and after a good wine down session, Soca Monarchs took over and
mixed things up with some sweet reggae beats. Court Jester was
the last big ticket DJ on the cast to come on the set... and as he was
bussin' tunes, De Farmers Rhythm Section was giving you that extra
sweet harmony. It's a shame that they were located all de way down in
the back of the dance, so you really couldn't get a true feel for the
vibes from the iron.
With other fetes to pass through, we left Viva City around 1:45am with
a full crowd and party going strong. Much thanks to Callaloo for allowing
TJJ to pass through. Happy Birthday Mr. Armando Singh!! We promised E
Man that we would make special mention of the "Armando"!!
;-) But eh eh... where de cake?? Hee Hee. Laters.
