Date: Friday 3rd June 2005 Venue: River Gambler Boat, Toronto Promoters: XCLuSV Two weeks after XCLuSV's 10th Anniversary T.A.B.O.O party, it was the second installment of last year's talked about cruise, Creamsicle. It was time for Partigras on Water! Everyone was in their finest Beige, Eggshell, Khaki, Ivory, Snow, Cream, or White attire... looking all spiff and dandy! We even know of a few smallies that were running around all helter-skelter in the mall just a few hours before sail time, determined to get that perfect outfit to make the fellas go ooooooh. Ladies... the mission was successful, as we heard the guys going on all night about how many sexy women were on the boat. XCLuSV's clientele boarded Toronto's "Fun Boat" and Canada's biggest dance floor on water, the River Gambler and believe it or not ON TIME! TJJ, who already has a reputation of being sociably late, was also on the boat well before the schedule departure time! Thank you, thank you. So, we were a little confused as to why our hosts, Mike and Mesfun, were not on board at 11:28pm??!!! Little did we know that they were actually stalling for time in order for TJJ to arrive and board, not knowing we already had our life jackets on with drinks in hand! We felt sooooo loved!!! Okay, before we get all teary-eye here let's get back to the boat cruise. ;-) Having not been on a boat ride since 2000 back in NYC, the excitement was definitely there as we watched the beautiful Toronto city skyline, while listening to some early warm tunes played by XCLuSV's resident DJ Alize. Large up Alize, who wasted no time in getting the party started once we where far out from the mainland to have the sound system cranked up. We can still see the ladies singing along to LL Cool J's Doin' It. As Austin Powers would have said, "Yeeeeaah Baaaabbby." Also, on the DJ cast was Canada's #1 Club DJ, Starting From Scratch, so music was on lock. Comedian Russell Peters was in da house as well... so you know jokes were not hard to find that night. Russell had us in stitches, especially when he started to mock the way Trinis talk. We couldn't tell if it was the alcohol or just Russell being Russell. What a character! Russell, we really think you need to get www.coolieboy.com as one of your websites! Hee hee! As always, it was a good time liming with Friends of the Jungle (big up to Caribbean Vibrations family on the inside) in such a lovely settings... drinks, music, good company and atmosphere. The weather held up nicely with the occasional cool breeze passing through which had a few people running for a sweater needless to say 10 degrees warmer would have been perfect! There was a bachelorette party on the cruise, so TJJ anxiously had our camcorder lined up, ready for action, but never witnessed any of the frolics. Bummer! We met some cool peeps from London, one being a long lost friend that TJJ had not seen in about 9 yrs back in Barbados! What are the odds??!!! Dis world real small boy!!! Overall, everyone seemed to enjoy the Creamsicle boatcruise. The only feedback we got from the crowd was wanting some more upbeat, hyped-up music at times instead of the "Rock the Boat" vibes which played through out the night. Our philosophy is, why wind a cruise down, when you can have people wanting to stay out on the water until the sun rises! NY boat rides are famous for this! Nevertheless as Mike and Mesfun promised, it was an evening of REAL people and a Great VIBE! Another one for the books! PS. Special thanks to the ship's captain and crew for their hospitality... and better yet, for setting aside a life jackets for TJJ! Heh, we did watch the movie Titanic! Homie doh play dat :-) |
