For the longest while when you think Pier One on a Thursday night here in Trini, 'Latin Night' usually comes to mind. Well this has come to change. It's out with de old and in with de new! Thursdays nights at Pier One will now be hosting 'Soca Thursdays.' Trinibashment 91.9 FM CEO Neil ‘Iwer’ George his Trinibashment team, the promoters of this new and continuing event had their launch on Thursday the 22nd of September.

Well you dun know that the Trini Jungle Juice crew was present for opening night. We reached down early this rounds as we wanted to catch all the action as it happened. And, we weren't the only ones there early. Nuff media was also in the house! At about half ten, the place looked kinda scarcely populated. People were now starting to flow in and a little socializing and ting began. Within the next hour and a half so, things began to change. The crowd's size not only picked up, but we could now feel a vibe in the party as well. Aye, did we mention there were nuff Soca stars in the house to show their support... Chris Garcia, Ataklan, Terry Seales, Michelle X, Ghetto Flex and Joey of Imij & Co. band, and Knycky Cordner to name a few.

Now each and every week a different Soca artist is going to perform. Tonight the Man of Fire, Maximus Dan was the featured artiste. He sang many of his hits, including Kick It Way, Soca Train, Order and Zion. The crowd loved his performance and as usual he tried to instill messages of love and non-violence to the youth. I am sure that anyone who was there, would find it hard to forget the abbreviation "D.C.D.B" (Don't Cross The Border)! Well the DJs took over the one's and two's after the Gladiator's performance and the session continued.

There was a live broadcast of the event on Trinibashment 91.9 FM as well. On the web, log on to www.trinijunglejuice.com for Live Radio streaming audio link on homepage or in D'Sound Engine Room, or tune into 91.9 FM so all you Soca lovers can catch a piece of the action every Thursday and hear live performances from some of your favorite Soca artistes. The Trini Jungle Juice Team would like to thank the whole of Trinibashment 91.9 FM for taking care of us, especially Janelle for showing us much love.
