Saturday 22nd October
and the much anticipated Pirates Of The Caribbean "The Curse of
the Black Crown" fete brought to you by Triple Crown Entertainment
held at one of the regular Caribbean venues - Fortress North, was finally
upon us. However it was not just a fete, this was also their 2nd year
anniversary, as well as, their official site launch www.triplecrowncity.com.
Now we have to admit,
this was not the perfect night to be out and about seeing that the weather
had been nothing short of dark and stormy all day, not to mention cold
tah rasssss!! However, with that in mind, TJJ rolled up to Fortress North
just minutes prior to midnight of course meeting ah few partnahs in de
parking lot for ah few brewskis (inside de car... remember it cold!!)
to actually walk through the door about 12:15 AM.
The size of the crowd was not as expected, but it didn't stop people from
feting up ah storm and wukkin' up ah sweat. Seeing that Triple Crown's
goal is to bring Soca fetes to a new level, the DJ line up was an impressive
combination of DJ's reppin' islands throughout the Caribbean. Spex
(Jamaica), Court Jester (St. Kitts & Nevis), DJ Chief (Guyana), Greenz
Connections (Grenada), JUK (St. Lucia), Niterider (Barbados & Beyond)
and of course Soca Monarchs (Trinidad& Tobago). Now with a
combination like dat, music was off da chain!! DJ's pleased the crowd
with every and anything you could have imagined. The crowd was either
jumping and waving to Soca, finding a groove with some sweeetttt dancehall
or conscious reggae only for it to change up again with some hip-hop.
Yes we said hip-hop! Akon and Young Geezy... doh matter... de music was
too sweet!! Big up to fete hosts S.K.F & Powerplay who
hyped the crowd even more, which led to more hot and sweaty behavior!
;-)
All in all, this was proof that ah little rain and cold breeze eh go stop
people from feting and having ah good time. TJJ rolled out just minutes
to 3 AM (yes with ah corn soup in hand as usual) but heard that the fete
was still going strong till at least past 4 AM. Much luv to Triple Crown
Ent. for allowing Trini Jungle Juice to pass though and have ah good time.
Lookout for their
next event on Saturday, October 29th - Halloween Masquerade Ball
at Fox & Fiddle (1957 Kennedy Rd)... they have joined forces with
Callaloo to bring you this big fete!!
