Well since you always in a party the only thing to do is go BIG and find yourself in TWO parties in one night. We called it, "The Birthday Crawl." It started off at Club Life in Coconut Grove for the Mad House Remix. TriniSouthBoyz are there each and every Friday night, and this week they invited TJJ to stop by and check out Flag Nite. The evening got off to a late start due to some prior birthday celebrations that needed to ease through the system before hitting the road again, so when we reach down in the grove outside of Life the line was well established. Big up to Marlon for taking care of TJJ. For those of you who don't know what goes on at Club Life, it's three parties in one - the Hip Hop room, Reggae room and Soca room. Straight off we have to say that the Soca room is the smallest of the three with a 4x4 platform in the middle of the dance floor. Though we would like it to at least be in the medium sized Hip Hop room, at least the Reggae room is large and does be ram. For one thing, this is a hard-core Soca fete, no standing around looking cute and actin' social, it don't have no room for that... if yuh come to wine and get on this is the place for you!!! As for the platform, well when the live models come out later on in the Carnival costumes it made it that much easier to see them ;-). Both Marlon Asher, coming direct from TnT for his 1st appearance in Florida to sing his #1 requested sound Ganja Farmer, and Edwin Yearwood were slated to perform this night. We were able to catch some of Edwin's set, but with this being the big Birthday Crawl night and having gotten word that 3Some was packed, we had to hit the road early! It would not be Friday night if we did not touch down in the Bayside Hut for Islands United 3Some! It's on the wrong side of 3am and we just now reaching, parking lot full so that mean the party ram. With ample room on the outside of the Hut for all the 'socailites' it was still pretty packed tonight. When we got inside, Papa Keith of 103.5 was on the mic doing his thing. We don't know what it was, but tonight brought out all kinds of folks, even the twins were in the dance with a circle of admirers surrounding them. We have to admit that getting there at this late hour made it a lil difficult to snap all the lovely ladies that were in attendance, and who was not ready to leave, was too sweaty from bubbling all night, or the place was just too ram to pose for the paparazzi! After a stop at the bar, and 1 lap through the spot folks started to file out. The Birthday crawl was coming to an end, and it would be time to rest up for the big Labor Day weekend, with offerings such as Naked, Obsession, Blink, Enchanted Garden, and the rescheduled Gen X All Inclusive Wet Fete! But wait... there is one more wicked fete happening this weekend, TABU is on Saturday night, so the Birthday Crawl continues...
Date: Saturday 20th August 2005 Venue: Fish 54, Miami FL Promoters: Gary Hart, Marco Brown, Jaime Young, & Rory Chin Click on thumbnails to see the big picture/entire gallery TJJ decided to continue the Birthday Crawl on Saturday as well (why not, we only live once!!!)... this time we looked around for something more in keeping with our new demographics. So it was back to one of our favorite spots Fish 54, for a timely offering from Absolute Entertainment -- the guys known for adult entertainment (and by adult, we mean the over 25 crowd... get those minds out of the gutter!) so it was off to Tabu. We have said it before and will say it again here, we love the central location of this spot, 15 mins south and we're there. Now when you walk up to a party and hear Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam with Full Force coming through the speakers, "I wonder if I take you home....", the original version for you youngsters, you know you in the right place. And when you walk up to a party and is nothing but sexy women as far as the eye can see, well you know you in the right place at the right time! This was our first time covering an Absolute Ent. event and we ent got no complaints, only one question... when and where is the next event cause Trini Jungle Juice will be there!!! To the bar staff at Fish 54 we do have one tip for you, if you going to charge soooo much for drinks, you need to have more bartenders working the event. We were impressed with the waiter that came up and took our order as soon as we stepped inside the joint, however, we are still waiting on him to return with those drinks!!! P.S. Apologies for not having our usual wall-to-wall photo coverage as our camera was having some issues on the night! Dat is technology for yuh money right???!!! We promise to make it up to you at the next one! |
