Date: Sunday 22nd October 2005 Venue: The Anchorage, Chaguaramas - Trinidad Promoters: Legacy - Big Mike & Friends Click on thumbnails to see the big picture/entire gallery We down in de Anchorage, or should we correctly say over in Tsunami. It's about 9 PM and we enjoying VIP treatment. Drinks flowing, people mingling and some Soca tunes playing. Not to get tie up, but we even seeing doubles and corn soup sharing too! What event we at now??!! It's Legacy Band Launch for their 2006 Carnival Presentation "Kingdom." Yes peoples - Big Mike and Friends doing things different from the norm. Before the usual Band Launch party and Mas Presentation, they decided to hold a special Pre-Launch as we would call it. This began at 8 PM to which special invited guests, media and sponsors were welcomed. Things went on for about three hours, in which time, guests were not only entertained with the sweet and pulsating beats from the Siparia Rhythm Section and the Bussa Clan Tassa group, but also got a close up look at the band's costume presentation for 2006 as well. At 11 PM, everyone was invited over to the Anchorage where the festivities would continue. As the Trini Jungle Juice team crossed over, we decided to stroll about a little in order to feel out the vibes. Wowie!! We couldn't help but notice the huge stage that was constructed up front and there was even a smaller one to the side of it. Like real action was gonna take place here tonight bwoy! Stage activity started at about 12:15 AM, which lead up to the Mas presentation which probably began a little after 1 AM. The sexy and radiant models graced the crowd on the smaller stage. As the lights lit up the costumes, we could see the magnificence and creativity of the bands designers. A truly splendid presentation for TnT Carnival 2006. Okay folks, things really getting hot now. Legacys on de road band, Caribbean Traffik Jam hit the stage at about 1:50 AM with front-line singers... who of course don't need any further introductions... Shurwayne Winchester and Candy Hoyte. Putting on a show which lasted for more than an hour, they most definitely had the crowd in a true party mood. Even some classic oldies were done as Steve Sealey joined in Traffiks performance. Next up were guest artists such as Johnny King, Maximus Dan, K.M.C and Iwer George who all gave performances second to none for the hundreds of partygoers that were there. Even de Two Face crew was present with their big flag waving high!! A little after 3 AM, TJJ called it a night. We are not sure what time things closed off but when we left, de fete was still in full swing. Special thanks to the Legacy Committee for the V.I.P treatment. We had a blast!! See you guys on de road come 2006! For more information, check out Legacy's website at www.legacycarnival.com |
