Jingle Jam ... Jingle
Jam ... Jingle all the way! Yes the much anticipated Jingle Jam fete held
at one of de usual Soca spots, Fortress North, reach. Promoted by IslandBoyz
& JVR Entertainment this wasn't just your ordinary Caribbean Jam...
Oh no we say! This time round, popular DJ Sound Crews Jugglers
and Mastimela were here direct from Trinidad, so you know what
dat mean??!! Party go be ram... place go be hot and we ent going home
til' de wee hours ah de mawin'!!
Trini Jungle Juice
rolled up to the spot a lil' after midnight and to no surprise was greeted
by a line. However, being familiar faces on de scene for a minute now,
we get a bligh and were on the inside. Next pitstop was coat check and
then straight to de bar! Bring sips!!
As expected, heat
was already in de place, and de vibes was sweet thanks to Soca Sweetness
on the turntables. We knew it was going to be a nice time. Around one
thirty-ish, Jugglers Sound wasted no time of settin' de place on
fire. With Shal Marshall on de mic, lawwwdd memories of partying
in ah sweet Trini fete flooded yuh memory (if you've been to ah real Trini
fete you know what we preach... if not, what yuh waitin' on??!!) Sweet
Soca tune after tune was pelted at the crowd... boy when we say people
gone mad, it was we own early Carnival 2K6 inside de place. Madness!!!
After Jugglers, Matsimela Sound switched up beats and it was back
to de good ole reggae days with a slow approach to the more popular dancehall
tunes. Resident DJs D'Bandit and Court Jester kept up the
pace after the guest DJ's and de party was on fyah!
In no time it was
4:30 AM (party still going on) and it was time to look for we coat and
say we good-byes, and yes yes... get we corn soup! Much thanks to Ibz
& JVR Ent. for allowing TJJ to pass through and capture the moments.
We done hearing talk bout Jingle Jam Pt. 2 come 2006. Til' next time...
we gone! (more like going to get some pastelles and ham with chow chow
along with some sorrel... Merry Christmas everyone!)
