Duration

Wednesday to Tuesday will give you maximum feting, while still allowing time to get your Miami shopping and beach time in. Want to save your vacation dates? Then get in on Thursday (in time for Trini Jungle Juice ARRIVALS) and fly out Monday morning. If you're like me, and want to enjoy a Las Lap fete (or two), leave Monday night/Tuesday morning.

Miami Carnival Parade of the Bands takes place every Columbus Day Weekend, on the second Sunday in October. In the US, Columbus Day is always celebrated on the second Monday in October.

Temperature

Visiting Miami in October is no different from the summer months, you can expect a lot of very hot and humid weather. The average daily temperature for this month is a very respectable 25°C (77°Fahrenheit), with highs going all the way up to 28°C (82°Fahrenheit) and lows down to 22°C (72°Fahrenheit).

Best places to stay

Where to stay for Miami Carnival? You have the choice of Dade (Miami) or Broward county (Fort Lauderdale). We recommend staying in the Miami area as this is where most of the carnival events take place. Midtown Miami, Wynwood, South Beach, Miami Beach and Brickell are all popular areas to stay in. Hollywood Beach area places you in between Miami and Broward.

Communication / Mobile Providers

If you'd like a local phone number in the US, you can buy a US SIM card upon your arrival in the States. There's AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon and Sprint. You should expect to pay at least US$30 plus tax. This will give you an allowance of US minutes and data.

Transportation

Book a car rental online in advance to get the best rate. Prefer not to drive? Uber or Lyft are usually less than 2 minutes away.

Flights

For your next trip to the Sunshine State, fly into Miami International Airport (MIA) or Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL). When you book via MIA, you will enjoy easy access to the city's hottest attractions as the tarmac is just 8 miles northwest of Downtown Miami. FLL is located 3 miles (5 km) southwest of the city centre of Fort Lauderdale and 21 miles north of Miami.
