There is no official CayMAS J'Ouvert. And unfortunately, Mukky Jouvert Cooler Fete was postponed this year.

Must Do Event

On the Sunday, ALL roads/boats/jet skis lead to Rum Point / Starfish Point with deviations to Stingray City and Kaibo! Whether you jump on one of the big party boats to continue the weekend pump or choose a more intimate setting with friends on a private boat, it's the ultimate Cool Down party/lime and not to be missed.

Duration

The official calendar of events starts on the Wednesday and ends on the Monday. This is more than adequate time to enjoy both the events and the island. If you're pressed for time, then arrive on Friday and leave on Monday.

Parade Day / Road March

CayMAS Carnival Street Parade takes place on the Saturday and usually kicks off at 1pm heading up along West Bay Road and ends at Seven Mile Public Beach.

Temperature

Tropical. Hot, Humid, temperate interior. Georgetown has warm temperatures year round ranging between 28°C (82°F) and 32°C (89°F).

TJJ Recommended Hotel

There's no shortage of hotels, villas and guest houses in Grand Cayman. Tried and tested, #1 for me is Palm Heights (Beach Suites) - Cayman Islands' first all suite boutique hotel. However, this year I had an enjoyable stay at The Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort & Spa. Definitely add the Breakfast Included option when booking.

Best places to stay

Ideally you should stay on the west side of the island along the award-winning Seven Mile Beach stretch, striking distance from all of the carnival action.

Transportation

Grab a rental at the airport. Nothing fancy, just something to get you from A to B. If possible, avoid a left-hand side drive vehicle. Driving a left-hand drive vehicle on the left-hand side of the road can get confusing, especially when driving back and forth between the Caribbean and the US. Taxis are also readily available from all Cayman Islands resorts.

Flights

Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands is your destination. Owen Roberts International Airport is the main international airport for the Cayman Islands as well as the main base for Cayman Airways.

Local Food

Coconut shrimp, conch, fish fry and Turtle Stew. Singh's Roti Shop will provide you will all the curry & stew you can eat! Roti or local Caribbean food, you can't go wrong. Grape Tree Café is your best bet for delicious fried fish in Bodden Town, a small village on the southern end of Grand Cayman.

Late Night Eats

Al La Kebab and Burger Shack, both located in Marquee Plaza, have saved many of lives.
